CATERING is back on a long-distance rail journey through Nottingham.
East Midlands Trains has confirmed plans to partly re-introduce trolley buffet service for passengers using its Liverpool to Norwich route in a new partnership with supplier Rail Gourmet.
Passengers have had to do without the service for three months after East Midlands Trains axed it to cut costs.
The new trolley service operated by Rail Gourmet will run on weekdays from Monday, September 7, between Nottingham and Stockport.

Network Rail has revealed a new far-reaching strategy to provide more train seats and services to boost capacity and shorten journey times for Luton commuters.
The East Midlands Route Utilisation Strategy (RUS) draft for consultation sets out how Network Rail will deliver a railway capable of meeting growing demand for rail services over the next 10 years.
It covers the route from London's St Pancras International to the East Midlands via St Albans, Luton and Bedford, as well as routes from Birmingham to Stansted Airport and Liverpool to Norwich.
The plan identifies a range of schemes to meet demand for commuting into London – subject to funding availability - and improve journeys for passengers and freight users.
Schemes to provide more seats include the introduction of 12-car high density rolling stock to provide up to 16 trains per hour in the peak from December 2015 on commuter services to London St Pancras and Blackfriars.
A three month consultation on the strategy is now underway for key industry stakeholders, including passenger train and freight operators, passenger groups, Office of Rail Regulation, Department for Transport, local authorities and regional development agencies
